სტატიაში მომოხილულია პროსტიტუციის პრობლემის ირგვლივ გამართული დებატები, რომელიც საქართველოში მეოცე საუკუნის დასაწყისში, გაზეთის „ხმა ქართველი ქალისა“ ფურცლებიდან დაიწყო, მაგრამ ვერ ჰპოვა შემდგომი განვითარება და ქართულ საჯარო სივრცეში დღემდე ტაბუდადებულ საკითხად დარჩა; განხილულია პროსტიტუციის რეგულირების თანამედროვე პოლიტიკა დასავლეთ ევროპის ქვეყნებში და ე.წ. ლეგალიზებისა და აკრძალვის პოლიტიკის შედეგები, ასევე პროსტიტუციის პრობლემის მიმართება საერთაშორისო ადამიანის უფლებების სამართალთან. სტატია წარმოადგენს მცდელობას პროსტიტუციის პრობლემა გახდეს საჯარო განხილვის საკითხი საქართველოში და გამოააშკარავდეს კავშირი გენდერულ უთანასწორობასა და პროსტიტუციის პრაქტიკას შორის.
